The history of this lake is associated with King Dasharatha of Ayodhya and Shravan, the ideal son who was devoted to serving his parents. Shravan had set out on a pilgrimage carrying his blind parents in a kanwar. When he came to this lake to fetch water for his parents, he was accidentally struck and killed by an arrow shot by King Dasharatha, who had gone hunting.
Once, on the sacred day of Ekadashi, Shri Bal Ghanshyam, along with Shri Dharmadev, Bhaktimata, and His maternal uncle Vashram Tarvadi, came to Shravan Talavadi to bathe.
At that time, a holy man sitting on the bank of the lake would treat blind people with medicines after taking a large sum of money, enabling them to regain their eyesight. However, some blind people could not afford the treatment because they did not have enough money.
Out of His infinite compassion, Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj cast His merciful divine gaze upon all those blind people. Immediately, all of them regained their eyesight.
They all bowed at the feet of Shri Hari and offered Him heartfelt prayers and praises. Therefore, Shravan Talavadi is a sacred place blessed by the divine presence of Shri Hari.
